Progress throughout the ages has been dependent upon the use that man has made of the horse. The sport of riding has gained such popularity that whereas the horse used to be the servant of man, it is now man that is the servant of the horse, and unashamedly so. And now the history of the horse has come almost full circle. Once the servant of man, the horse is now being served and kept by man, chiefly for sport.
